The cable tv companies have had a stranglehold of the business for years. They have been taking the prices of cable and jacking them up as there are so many people out there who rely on their TV for their source of entertainment. However, the power of the cable company is getting smaller every single day. One of the big things that is happening is the Internet and technology have come along to help make the cable obsolete.
Many people love watching shows on tv, but these same people are seeing the benefit of waiting until it comes out on DVD. By doing this they are allowing the show to be released so they can watch it all at once. This is eliminating the need for them to have the premium channels.
Those who have used the pay per view and the premium channels for their movie watching are no longer having to do that. These days the computer companies are able to stream the movies right to your home without having to pay for cable at all. It’s a wonderful idea and it’s one that many companies are trying to implement.
The other thing is that many use the cable for sports games, but computers can broadcast similar stuff. While it’s not that way across the board it is quickly becoming that way. It’s making the need for the cable companies less and less important and that’s something they don’t like to hear, but it’s good for the consumer.
